Checking In

Our Web Check-in and Kiosk check-in services are not available for international flights.

Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue are 100% ticket less, so you will not be issued with a physical ticket at the time of booking. Instead, you will be issued with an itinerary detailing your booking reference number. You MUST bring this itinerary with you to check-in.

At the check-in counter, you must also show all relevant travel documentation. This will include a valid passport and may include a visa and proof of onward travel. To find out more about visa requirements and international embassy information, visit the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website.

If you satisfy these check-in requirements, you will be given a boarding pass for your flight and you may proceed to the Outbound Immigration Line.

Hot Tip: During peak periods, please allow plenty of time to clear Immigration and Security.

Baggage

When checking in your baggage, you will be asked if you have packed items that may be considered dangerous goods. Please take this into account when packing your bags. Please also keep in mind our cabin & checked baggage allowances when packing for your flight (20 kgs for checked-in baggage; 7kgs for carry-on), otherwise you may be subject to excess baggage charges. For further information on baggage please click here .

Please Note: Due to increased security now enforced for International travel, please refer to our Enhanced security measures for International flights section.

Hot Tip: In order to speed up the check-in process, please remove any old baggage tags that may be attached to the baggage you wish to check-in.

Looking the Part

For your own safety and with the consideration of others in mind, the airline has minimum dress requirements. These are:
  • Footwear (thongs are acceptable): all adults and children who are capable of walking must wear suitable footwear.
  • Shorts.
  • Shirt (singlets are acceptable).
  • No clothing displaying offensive language or symbols.

If you do not meet our minimum dress requirements, you will be denied travel at that time and until you are dressed appropriately.

Hot Tip: Remember not to pack any items of clothing into your checked baggage that you may need on the flight.

Boarding your Flight

Our aim is to invite you to board your aircraft at least 30 minutes prior to departure on International services. Not only is it important to us that your flight departs on time, it is also important to our other Guests. Therefore, our aircraft will not be held if you are running late.

If you require extra time boarding or additional assistance, please alert our airport team members in advance so they can arrange pre-boarding with your Cabin Crew.

Hot Tip: Please make any duty free purchases from airport outlets well in advance so you do not get caught in queues at the time when you should be boarding the aircraft.
